New Funding Announced
Tune Up Canberra is a 50/50 ACT Government grants program to encourage owners of commercial office buildings to make their buildings more energy and water efficient. Round 2 closes 10 September 2010 More info Strengthening Basin Communities Program - Dept of the Environment, Water, Heritage & the Arts. Local government bodies and urban Water service providers in the Murray Darling Basin are invited to apply for funding to invest in Water saving initiatives that will meet the needs of the local communities responding to a future with less Water. Water utilities' record annual $8.1b investment
A national report card launched by the Parliamentary Secretary for Water, Mike Kelly revealed Australia's urban water utilities invested $8.1 billion in 2008-09, up from $4.5 billion the year before. The 90% increase reflects the timing of major capital works programs to deliver new sources of bulk supply through desalination plants, recycling projects (stormwater harvesting) and new pipelines.
